The latest killer app has just been released. What's the cheapest way to pick up a copy?

You, of course, have the choice of buying from a brick and mortar (B&M) store or from an online store. B&M has the advantage of getting you your copy today but the significant disadvantage of having to pay the highest price (retail price + tax + gas + shopping time). Buying online, on the other hand, gives you the best opportunity to get the most out of your money. You can, in most states, avoid having to pay sales tax. You can also commonly get it shipped to your door for free. Prefer to pay below retail? Simply follow the tips below.

A) Buy online from Amazon.com or Newegg.com and get free shipping. These two sites usually have very competitive prices on games.

Or, you can do a little more work for an even lower price...

B) Buy from Amazon.com or Newegg.com and get free shipping. Also, do some research and find out what coupons and specials are available. For example, ECA recently had a deal where you could get ten percent off any video game purchase from Amazon simply by signing up for a free ECA membership.

Or, you can go auction style...

C) Buy from eBay, get free shipping (generally), pay below retail. This method might be the least expensive, however you do have to deal with the unpredictability of eBay merchants so make sure to buy from someone with good feedback.
