Electronics are part of a fast changing world. A new model of whatever product you're looking at seems to come out all the time. Netbooks are no exception and you can take advantage of this to get a great price on that sleek, ultra portable, featherweight netbook with seemingly unending battery life.

Find a specific netbook you want. It could be a top of the line netbook with a luxuriously sized screen and an amazingly long battery life or a more modest model with a smaller screen and a shorter battery life. Do some research (try googling or binging for [netbook manufacturer] + netbook release dates) and find out when a newer netbook at the same price point as the netbook you're interested in is being released. When this newer version comes out (or is even just about to be released), the price on your netbook pick will drop significantly. This is the time to buy!

If you're not interested in waiting around for a price drop and need a netbook fast, then you'll have to buy a netbook at the current market price. Luckily, this 'wait for a price drop' technique can be used in reverse as well. You can know you're getting a good deal on that netbook if its price recently dropped because a newer model just came out. There are various websites that track product price history which you can use to see if a recent price drop has occurred. Don't fall into the trap of buying the latest and most advanced model out there when you can get something slightly less powerful for much less.

Netbook Buying Guide

Here's my Asus Eee 1005HA review if it helps anyone: I picked mine up about a month ago for a bit over $300 from Amazon. Comes with Windows XP and boots up in a speedy 30 seconds. Battery life is amazing (I get like 7 hours in real use), keyboard is nearly full sized (95% I think), screen is beautiful and quite big (there really is a big difference in usability between a 10.1" screen and something even just slightly smaller). I got it in white so you can't really get fingerprints all over it. Overall a very elegant and inexpensive computer.

This ASUS looks very nice! I didn't like the look of the first ASUS models, that's why I have a MSI Wind now.
But this 1005HA is just beautiful.. and the price tag is also very nice :)
